Gas Assist Injection Mold Development

Tooling with a curved cavity.

Develop gas assist injection tooling around your part and production requirements, with mold manufacture carried out in our own factory. Define geometry, material and sample-acceptance requirements before committing the tooling scope.

Part, gas path and tooling

Plan the tool around the process.

Gas assisted injection molding tooling must account for plastic flow and the intended gas path together. Gas entry locations, channel layout, remaining wall and plastic gates influence each other.

Gas assist injection mold design considerations should be settled alongside the part’s functional and appearance requirements. Where analysis or simulation is included in the agreed scope, define the questions it must answer and the evidence required.

Three decisions to settle early.

  1. 01 / RequirementsAgree material needs, critical surfaces, assembly interfaces, dimensions and regions that must remain solid.
  2. 02 / Tooling briefIdentify the proposed gas path, tooling work, drawings, trials and responsibilities required for the project.
  3. 03 / Approval evidenceAgree how samples and relevant internal geometry will be checked before accepting the result.

In-house mold manufacture

Connect tooling and production requirements.

Our own factory carries out mold manufacture and gas assist injection molding production. The quotation should define the gas assist mold making work, trial requirements and deliverables for your project.

For new tooling, identify design flexibility early. For an existing mold, provide tool drawings, photographs, material details and examples of the current result. Adding a gas inlet alone does not establish that a conversion will work as intended.

Prepare the development brief.

  • Available part geometry, cosmetic faces and assembly interfaces.
  • Resin grade or required material properties.
  • The purpose of gas assist and the proposed hollow regions.
  • Expected quantity, target schedule and existing tooling information.
  • Required samples, inspection evidence and acceptance criteria.

Use the design guidelines to organize open questions, or explore our gas assist injection molding services for production requirements.

Tell us about your part.

Send the available drawing, material requirements, expected quantity and target schedule.
